IT Specialist

Location: RAF Marham

Would you like to be part of the team that will sustain the Information Management and Technology capabilities that are critical to the success of the F35 Integrated Training Centre (ITC)? We currently have a vacancy for an IT Specialist at our site in RAF Marham. 

As an IT Specialist, you will report to the site Lead IT Specialist and will be working under the direction of the IM&T function, to partake in technical activities required to deliver the continued deployment, refinement, exploitation and on-going support and sustainment of Information systems across the breadth of activities in the ITC.

Your main responsibilities as an IT Specialist will involve: 

Support and sustainment of all Information Systems and Information Technologies, and related activities to manage, trouble-shoot, repair, and upgrade software and hardware

Implementation, setup, and repair of applicable intranets, Local Area Networks (LAN), Virtual Private Networks (VPN), servers, workstations and stand-alone computers, all associated hardware, and all associated software, under the technical authority and direction of the IM&T function

System administration activities including management and backup of database servers and resolution of database problems and conflicts; software scripting, SQL database scripting, and associated automation of routine activities

Designing and the implementation of computer platform protection and recovery, that meets required continuity of operations

Working with and assisting Information System Security Officer (ISSO) staff in the development, implementation, and audit of required site security policies for computer platforms.  Contributing to, reviewing, evaluating, coordinating, and making recommendations on all Information Technology certification and accreditation submissions

Managing the training networks and associated training devices required to deliver training to aircrew and groundcrew personnel for the UK F35 program




Your skills and qualifications:


Demonstrable work experience with using Microsoft Operating systems – (Windows 7, Windows 10 and Server 2012) within both a Desktop and a Server environment

Demonstrable work experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2007/2012

Demonstrable work experience of working within large scale Virtualisation platforms such as VMWare, Citrix, Hyper-V etc.

Demonstrable work experience of working with Dell & HP Enterprise hardware

Experience of using Symantec Backup Exec 15

Demonstrable work experience in supporting and sustaining client-server and web-based systems and applications


Certified in CompTIA Security+ would be highly advantageous

Evidence of ITIL knowledge and practice

Experience with VMWare vSphere & Horizons

What we're looking for in you:

The successful candidate needs to have excellent communication skills as you will be dealing with Senior Stakeholders and various customers directly

The successful candidate MUST be able to gain DV Clearance
