Early Careers Apprentice & Skills Development Lead (Quality) 

Location: Samlesbury 

Salary: £37,000 +

Would you like a highly varied and rewarding role working with apprentices within the Early Careers team? We currently have a vacancy for an Early Careers Apprentice & Skills Development Lead (Quality) at our site in Samlesbury.

As an Early Careers Apprentice & Skills Development Lead (Quality), you will be part of the Early Careers Air, Shared Services and Land UK team with responsibility for the effective delivery of quality assurance and development to a broad range of BAE Systems stakeholders delivering apprentice and skills training

This role will provide you with the opportunity to influence the future careers of the apprentices in the scheme.

Your main responsibilities as an Early Careers Apprentice & Skills Development Lead (Quality) will involve: 

Providing quality related advice, support and delivery to our Air, Shared Services and Land UK businesses to ensure compliance and achievement of outstanding grades across our regulatory body requirements (Ofsted, ESFA, and Awarding Organisations)

Effectively line manage the central quality administrators, co-ordinate the cycle of quality assurance activity and liaise closely with the site based quality and funding administration teams across the UK

Co-ordinating the observation of teaching, learning  and assessment activity across Air, Shared Services and Land UK provision, providing detailed analysis of the findings and supporting areas of improvement through performance interventions and professional development training for staff and sub-contractors

Leading the collation of learner voice activity ensuring apprentice feedback is gathered across all key aspects of the apprentice programme, effectively analysing and evaluating the findings to drive continuous quality improvement

Undertaking compliance audits across all Air, Shared Services and Land UK provision to validate self- assessment judgements and support progress against quality improvement plans



Your skills and qualifications:

Significant experience of working within training and education with a sound knowledge of Ofsted, QAA or SDS inspection frameworks

Conducting quality assurance audits and compliance checks within an education and training environment

Experience in the delivery of high quality vocational training and assessment  

Experience of Internal Quality Assurance and Verification practices with the ability to identify and implement appropriate improvement measures

Good knowledge of Apprenticeship content and pedagogy

Comprehensive knowledge and experience of assessment/verification practices and awarding body requirements

Experience of auditing quality compliance and controls


Recognised Teacher/Training Qualification (for example Degree, Certificate in Education or equivalent) with evidence of continued CPD

Internal Quality Assurance (V Award or equivalent qualification)  

ISO9001 (desirable)
