CVVID is proving to be an enormous asset to employers, making recruitment more effective and more efficient. It can work for you too, saving you valuable time and money.
Paper CVs are fine for listing academic achievements, but they cannot give an adequate picture of a candidate’s personality - so crucial to the smooth running of your business.
Now you don’t have to wade through hundreds of paper CVs. Instead, you can quickly assess a candidate’s suitability based on a far more personal introduction – Video CV. You can get a much clearer idea of what each candidate is about before calling them for interview. It’s the next best thing to a face-to-face – and far quicker.FAQs
Listing vacancies only costs a nominal fee, after which you can upload your vacancies, search candidates and communicate directly with them.
The cost is £45 per vacancy if you only need to use the service adhoc, or £450 for a one off annual payment and upload as many vacancies as you wish. Yes that's correct, as many as you wish.
Register with us as an employer and when advertising for any vacancies be sure to ask applicants to include a video CV. It’s as simple as that!
That’s simple too.
Each jobseeker will provide you with a unique link for their profile page which includes a video CV and their supporting documentation - like a portfolio or exam certificates.
You can also view all the Video CVs of jobseekers who have chosen to make their profiles public using an intelligent search facility. Once you’ve identified a suitable candidate, you can message them directly to set up an interview.
Positive proof that you can realise your career ambitions with a great video CV.
Okay, you want to give yourself the very best chance of getting the job you most want.
A smart, well laid-out CV that makes you a shoe-in for the post. Right?
Well yes, except that is so last century. Now there’s a new way to make that first impression really count.
Video CVs are the future. And don’t worry if you’re “camera shy”. We’ll show you how to get past your insecurities – so you shine at your best!
They’re not just a problem for you - they’re a real hassle for employers. No matter how well you describe yourself, it is still just words on paper. When your potential boss ‘meets’ you for the first time, whether online or in the flesh, he or she will form their opinion based on what they see - from the most obvious visual clues … to those more personal traits, relevant interests and enthusiasms that make you the lovable, indispensable asset you know yourself to be. No piece of paper can do that for you.
The great news is – if you’re a tiger, now you don’t just have to be a paper tiger.
More and more young people are discovering that this brand new alternative to the paper CV is giving them the edge out there in the workplace – seriously boosting their chances of getting an interview.
Look at it from the employers’ point of view. CV Videos mean they don’t have to wade through piles of paper trying to get an impression of the people they may want to hire. CVVID makes it so much easier for them – because it gives you the tools to present your true and best self. So your application stands out from the rest.
CV enhancement has really taken off in the States. Soon it will be the norm on both sides of the Atlantic. Now is the perfect time to get ahead of the competition by joining the growing numbers of jobseekers showcasing their talents with a personalised video from CVVID.
We’re experts in what employers want. And we help you get it to them in a way that’s easy and enjoyable – for you, and them.
By the way, did you know Jonny Depp was camera shy? Many people are. If you’re one of them - don’t worry. We’ll get you through it – to you at your best.
Your Video CV can be created on your phone in any setting you choose. It’s really simple to do - you don’t need to be an IT geek or a professional photographer. See for yourself.
The first thing is the simplest.
Practice may not make it perfect, but it will always make it better.
If cameras are a real problem for you, check out our Masterclass video: Act Natural - how to be YOU in front of a camera here
It’s really important to plan this. (Really)
You’re showing your personality: who you are, how well you can communicate, what kind of team player you are, your skills, your experience and your ambition.
All that needs to come across right from outset.
Start by imagining you’re the employer.
It’s so important to understand that employers want genuine people, who have heart and warmth - and even vulnerability - as well as skills and drive and passion.
If you allow them to meet you at your best, you’ll stand out from a whole production line of script-reading Cyborgs.
Right. So those are the things you want to try get into your CV Video.
Now it’s time to build up the structure.
For this you’ll want to create a set of questions that you’ll then answer in your CV Video.
Here are some examples of the sorts of questions you might ask yourself. But remember – you’re not trying to be a flawless super-hero, or deliver a Mask of Perfection.
Make sure your questions give you the chance to be the real you. You – at your best.
When do you feel at your most confident? Imagine yourself there.
Who makes you feel most like you? … Imagine you’re with them. Better still, ask them to help you.
In fact it’s always a good idea to get someone you trust to help you.
Treat this as a project. Think it through. Walk around it. Build it up. Get some feedback from others.
Take a look at some of our Best Practice examples here
BUT always remember, you don’t have to be like anyone else, and you shouldn’t be. That’s the whole point: you just have to be you. You - at your best.
1. What if I’m not cut out to perform for the camera?
If you can handle the pressure of an interview, you can make a Video CV.
For most people, it’s just about doing it and getting over yourself.
First of all, try the suggestions in the section “Get used to the camera”.
You don’t need to perform, just be as natural as you can be. If you make a mistake just do another take … until you’re happy.
You can have a friend hold up bullet points for you, just out of sight, as a prompt. But be sure it doesn’t look – or sound - like you’re reading from them.
If in doubt, keep practicing. Take 2 … Take 7 … Take 12 … Until it’s in the can.
Yes you’re on show, but you’re not on trial. Relax and enjoy yourself. Unlike when you go for an interview, there’s no time limit. So keep shaping your Video CV until you’re ready to upload it to the site.
If cameras are a real problem for you, check out our Masterclass video: Act Natural - how to be YOU in front of a camera here
2. So it’s all about how I look?
No way! Employers are looking to hire someone with a great personality first and foremost - someone they can work with, trust and rely on day to day. Plus they want to know about your qualifications and experience. Your Video CV can do so much of that work for them – and for you.
And hey – if a potential employer rejects you on the basis of your looks, you’ve just saved yourself a whole lot of time and effort turning up to be interviewed by someone you probably wouldn’t want to work for anyway.
3. How much is this going to cost me?
Registering for a CVVID account is completely free. Once you have created your profile, you can increase your chances of landing your dream job by upgrading to a Gold Account. (If your school or college is funding your CVVID profile then of course they’ll foot the bill).
4. What about security? Will anyone be able to view the video?
No they won’t. At CVVID we take your privacy really seriously. Your profile is only viewable if you choose to make your account public. If you choose to keep it private, then only those employers who have been sent your unique link can view your Video CV.
What’s more, once you’ve landed a job, you can de-activate your account so you don’t get any unwanted attention!
5. How do I know this new kind of CV really works?
CVVID is helping many graduates and jobseekers to find employment. You can see their Video CVs here
6. Additional Documentation.
Your video is just one part of you. Your profile page can also include other stuff: a paper CV – some people will still need this - your portfolio, exam certificates, qualifications, testimonials … In fact anything that enhances your credentials.
Positive proof that you can realise your career ambitions with a great video CV.
